This is a tutorial on how to connect to http://www.talkshoe.com via SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) Using X-lite.  The Mouse Pointer will be where you will need left your mouse on each step as you go. You can use X-lite without a SIP provider, see http://mediaminnutes.net/Talkshoe, But, you can not receive calls and messages. You need  a SIP Provider to receive incoming calls and to make call to others. First goto http://www.voxalot.com and sign up for a free account.

Click on Register

Make Sure that you write down your Userid and Password. You will need them later when you setup X-lite. Now check your e-mail and click on the link in the message. Then Click on Save

Next download X-lite from http://www.counterpath.com/ If You Have a PC Click here If you have a Mac click here If you are Using Linux Click here Next install X-lite. When you finish installing X-lite you May need to reboot your Computer. If you need to reboot your Computer Reboot Then Run X-lite

The Top left button click on it where the mouse pointer is located

Click on SIP Account Settings

Next Click on Add...

Everything should be blank except the Dialing Plan Your User Name, Display Name, and Authorization user Namer is your Userid under Voxalot. You will want to use the Server Domain that is closest server to you. The United States Server is us.voxalot.com The Australian Server is au.voxalot.com The European server is eu.voxalot.com Under Proxy you will want to put in your server with :5060 added. This will allow you to use a Nat Router. Make Sure that you up everything as shown under the Account tab as shown. XXXXXX is your Userid from Voxalot and place in your password also as shown. Next click on the Topology Tab

You will need to set Topology Tab as shown here.   For firewall transversal the Topology tab must be set up as shown.  This so that X-lite knows what your true IP address is and not your IP address assinged by yur NAT Router.  IP address discover global address should be checked. STUN server Use specifiied server should be checked and the field stun.counterpath.net:3478 should be placed in that field. ICE should also be checked. After you have steup Topology as it is shown then click on Apply in the lower right corner.

Now click close

Now again click The Top left button where the mouse pointer is located

This time click on Options...

Next Click on the Headset with the word Devices under it

We are now going to be correcting the biggest problem majority of people have using X-lite on Talkshoe.com and that is The Auto Gain Control is checked by Defalt. Uncheck Gain Control in Two Places and Click Apply

Then click Close You should be able to run X-lite. Now type in 66.212.134.192 If the peroid does not show up between the numbers back space and hit your space bar once, this togeles from numeric and text modes, and renter 66.212.314.192 Next hit enter to connect to talkshoe. If this does not work then try sip:123@66.212.134.192 as the provides a dummy sip provider. Put in the Program ID you want and your Pin Number that you signed with talkshoe and you are in the program. To Digg this article Click here.
